What we are looking for:

FolderWave is looking for a Front-End Engineer/Full Stack knowledge with JavaScript/CSS/PHP experience to work on an agile team with a focus on improving the UI experience. You will be working on an agile team supported by the Architecture/Dev team to build, convert and create new innovative, intuitive, and beautiful user interface for several new and existing products.  We are open to someone working FT or PT – between 24 – 40 hours/week.

What you will be doing:

Joining an agile team that is located in Westford MA:

  • Work on an agile development team re-imagining a new UI for a successful and growing product.
  • Work on implementing UI designs and functionality.
  • Design, collaborate, write code, write automated tests, review other engineers code and participate in every part of the team process.
  • Share your new ideas, experiences and expertise in order to help the team and our product improve.
  • This role is hybrid – generally remote with occasional meetings in our office in Westford, MA.

 

Qualities you possess:

  • You have a knack for developing applications that are both intuitive and innovative.

 

  • You are keen on staying up to date with latest industry standards and UX best practices, and how to implement them to continuously help improve our products and user experience.

 

  • You are familiar with SDLC and best practices on deployment and feature flags.

 

  • You work well with designers and able to execute their visions with precision.

 

  • You are comfortable working in a flexible fast-paced software development environment.

 

Minimum Qualification

  • 3+ years software development experience of complex applications (UI focus and some backend desirable) in JavaScript and PHP
  • Experience with CMS systems like Drupal and WordPress
  • Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, PHP, JS (ES5/ES6/Typescript), Node.js, jQuery, React, Vue.js, MySQL, SQL Server, and Responsive Design.
  • Must have experience with server-side JavaScript.
  • Experience in browser-side application architectures.
  • Experience in delivering products using SDLC and Agile methodology.
  • Experience using Git.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Accessibility knowledge and experience desirable

 

Desirable skills

  • Experience in using and/or developing APIs (RESTful etc.)
  • Experience using or interacting with other backend languages (e.g. Java, C++, .Net)
  • Experience with automated unit, integration and end-to-end testing is highly desirable.
  • Experience with scripting languages, such as Python, Ruby, etc.
  • Experience with Azure and Linux

What You’ll Do

  • Design thoughtful and engaging user experiences for web and mobile platforms
  • Collaborate with product managers, developers, and educators to understand user needs
  • Translate research and user insights into wireframes, prototypes, and polished UI designs
  • Advocate for user-centered design principles throughout the product lifecycle
  • Conduct usability testing and iterate designs based on feedback

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong portfolio showcasing web and/or mobile design work
  • Proficiency in tools like Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar
  • Experience conducting user research and translating findings into actionable designs
  • Understanding of accessibility standards and responsive design
  • Passion for education and a desire to make a difference in the K–12 space

Nice to Have

  • Experience in edtech or designing for educational audiences
  • Familiarity with design systems and component libraries
  • Basic knowledge of front-end development (HTML/CSS)
